Exemption rules
As Vertical IT Solutions operates as a VoIP service provider, our call authentication and robocall mitigation efforts are intrinsically linked with our upstream provider, Bandwidth.com, which implements STIR/SHAKEN protocols on our behalf. Given this operational model, Vertical IT Solutions itself does not directly implement STIR/SHAKEN within its own network infrastructure. This approach is in compliance with the FCC's framework, as Bandwidth.com's implementation of STIR/SHAKEN effectively covers the calls originating from our network, ensuring they are authenticated according to the industry's best practices and standards for combating illegal robocalls. Our exemption from direct STIR/SHAKEN implementation aligns with the understanding that the FCC's regulations permit service providers to rely on their upstream providers' STIR/SHAKEN capabilities, particularly when such arrangements ensure comprehensive authentication and mitigation of illegal robocalls across the network. This collaborative model ensures our compliance with the FCC's objectives in robocall mitigation without necessitating redundant STIR/SHAKEN implementations at every tier of service provision. Vertical IT Solutions is committed to robust robocall mitigation strategies, including: Permitting only authenticated communications from our upstream provider, Bandwidth.com, through its STIR/SHAKEN framework. Preventing the spoofing of unauthorized or unverified DIDs by our customers. Proactively monitoring call detail records (CDRs) to identify and address the use of unauthorized or unverified DIDs. In summary, our reliance on Bandwidth.com for STIR/SHAKEN authentication is grounded in a strategic approach to leverage their comprehensive capabilities for call authentication, which, in turn, ensures our alignment with the FCC’s requirements for robocall mitigation without the direct implementation of STIR/SHAKEN within our own network infrastructure.
