- While BTS exchanges most traffic on the IP portions of its network, it may occasionally accept traffic for exchange on non-IP portions of its network. Under FCC rule 47 C.F.R. § 64.6304(d) and its continuing STIR/SHAKEN implementation extension for the portions of a provider's network that cannot handle SIP calls, BTS is not required to implement STIR/SHAKEN for these non-IP calls at this time. However, in compliance with 47 CFR § 64.6303, BTS participates as a member of a group that is working to develop and test a non-IP authentication solution, and it can provide the Commission with proof of this upon request.
